OLD RICHIANS' ASSOCIATIONANNUAL DINNER 2010 This year’s Dinner will be held in the School Hall on Saturday 17th April 2010. The School will be open from approximately 6.30pm onwards when guests will have an opportunity of looking at a display of some of the archives of the Association, before we take our seats at 7.15pm in readiness for the serving of the meal to start at 7.30pm.As last year, the formal parts of the evening will start slightly later, and the serving of the meal will be earlier which, we hope, will leave more time for members to mingle and chat with others present. In addition to the customary speeches from the President and the Headmaster Ian Kellie, we are pleased to confirm that our guest speaker this year will be Dick Brice. Dick was born and brought up in the Forest of Dean, and has an authoritative knowledge of the area. He is also a singer and songwriter who has been entertaining audiences in folk clubs and concert halls for many years and has appeared at the Edinburgh and City of London Festivals, and the Noyeres Festival in Burgundy, France. He is particularly known for his song 'The Land Between Two Rivers', a tribute to the Forest of Dean. We very much look forward to hearing from Dick on the 17th April. All former pupils, staff and their partners together with current staff are welcome at the Dinner for which tickets are £22. This is an increase on last year, as we have chosen to revert back to waitress service, rather than the buffet format of previous years. It is not necessary to be a member of the Association to attend the Annual Dinner although we would welcome anyone joining beforehand or on the night. Applications for tickets should be made to our Social Secretary, Martin Bulled, 2 Barnacre Drive, Hucclecote, Gloucester, GL3 3DQ (Tel: 01452 616354), on the application form enclosed or by downloading the application form from the Old Richians' Association website (www.oldrichians.org.uk). Cheques should be made payable to "The Old Richians' Association". We do not propose issuing formal tickets for the evening, but when applying for tickets please provide an e-mail address to Martin who will send you confirmation of booking. If you wish to receive written confirmation or confirmation by telephone, please provide a stamped addressed envelope/telephone number. We are hoping that a number of committee members and contacts of the Association will take on the role of being co-ordinators for their particular eras, in the hope that we can encourage support for the Dinner. This way we hope that anyone who may be reticent about coming along will be more inclined to do so when they know there will be others present they know. Why not suggest to those Richians with whom you are in contact, or indeed have not contacted for many years, that you make up a table - and then send your applications to Martin Bulled. Let’s make this year’s dinner a bumper event and aim to double the numbers who have attended in recent years! If you have any questions or queries please either contact Martin Bulled on the number above or Andrew Bishop on 01242 680425.Garde Ta Foy! Pat NeiningerChairman
